Downtown Post Office Is Staying! This morning, the US Postal Service gave us some great news and informed me that our downtown post office will be staying in its current location. I’m pleased to share that USPS has made a final determination to cancel its proposed relocation and announced a long-term agreement to stay at the current site, which has been in operation since the 1960s. This positive outcome for our residents is the culmination of numerous conversations with USPS representatives over the past weeks and months.
Thank you to all of the many residents who joined in this community effort to voice our concerns about the proposed move and process. Your elected representatives shared these concerns with the USPS. Together, we overcame the trend of post office closings throughout the nation. The Postal Service listened to our statements on the need for a post office in our thriving downtown and its importance to residents and businesses. Special thanks to our congressional delegation, especially Representative Ted Deutch and his staff, for their continued advocacy and help with the city’s efforts.
